From August 2023 to December 2024, I conducted in-site fieldwork in the state of Pará, located in the North of Brazil. The state is roughly the size of countries like Angola or Colombia and has a population of approximately 8.1 million inhabitants. Pará concentrates the largest number of agrarian reform settlements in the country and, for over a decade, has consistently ranked as the national leader in rural violence and environmental conflicts.
